What is the difference between ParkSure parking sensors and the cheaper ones on ebay and Amazon?
Quite a lot actually. The cheaper parking sensors on the market are widely mass produced and if you browse the internet you will see that they are used in countless brands of parking sensors kits so they are cheap to make and cheap to buy, making them low quality product and not advisable as a reliable parking aid. The parking sensors we use are by Steelmate, a UK based company who manufacture their own high quality products that are therefore extremely reliable. Steelmate parking sensors can also be adjusted to suit vehicle height, beeper volume control and also consider towbars or 4x4 rear mounted spare wheels. At ParkSure, we won't compromise quality or safety.
What is the difference between the flush fitted sensors and the discs?
The main difference is the visual visibility of the sensors on your vehicle, for example you may have an Audi TT and don't want standard sensor discs, but a Ford Focus would look fine with discs as they don't fit flush sensors on the Focus. Basically it's all a matter of preference. We also fit entry level Steelmate discs that don't have a soft-tone factory for keep costs down a bit. So you can choose exactly what you think you will suit your vehicle.
Will fitting aftermarket parking sensors invalidate the warranty on my vehicle?
Because we install 'non-interference' parking sensors most warranties are not affected, this can be for 2 reasons. Firstly, our sensors do not interfere with the vehicle electrics that were installed at the factory. We simply use a 12v power supply taken either from the reverse light or fuse box, making them completely harmless to the vehicle ECU and other electrical systems on board. Secondly, we also offer a warranty on the product and installation so warranty companies are satisfied.
Do we colour match the sensors?
If parking sensors require colour coding, our paint shop carefully prime the sensors then apply three light layers of paint to each sensor. The paint is carefully heat sealed and two layers of high gloss acrylic lacquer is applied to give the sensors a quality glossy finish. Matt black sensors are also available for durable black bumper trims found on some vehicles.
Will my bumpers need to be removed?
Only factory flush style sensors require bumper removal as they are secured from inside the bumper. All our installers are trained to remove bumpers carefully and do so almost every day. Bumpers never touch the ground as our fitters place padded mats under the bumper every time when removing them, and place them on a cradle to work on. This is to protect the bumper and to allow our fitters to carry out the work at waist height as part of our health & safety policy. All other sensors are clipped in place from outside the bumper. You can be assured your vehicle is always in good hands.
How long does an installation take?
Installations can vary depending on whether rear only, front and rear, the product being fitted and the vehicle itself. We will give you a better idea once you have received your quotation.
Do you install in bad weather?
Great care must be taken to ensure vehicle electrics do not come into contact with rainwater. Although our installers carry gazebo style tent covers, they are insufficient during high winds. We do our very best to carry out all installations on the date agreed, however it is our responsibility to ensure your vehicle's safety and will contact customers to rearrange installation if the weather is deemed too wet and/or windy to carry out electrical installations on your vehicle.
